Tragedy and Love

Because I was so excited about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I finally bought a copy and can't wait for the other one. In just two or three chapters, Harry lost close friends. I couldn't believe that the gift Sirius has given him 4 years ago, his Firebolt fell and was lost. And then this damn Death Eater Avada Kedavra'd Hedwig. Poor Harry. They also lost Mad Eye on the way to the Burrow...and George's ear.

By far, Deathly Hallows is the darkest Harry series. I guess it's supposed to be since this is the last book. And Hedwig and Mad Eye are not the only casualties. There are a lot.

For those who have read the book, you would probably know that Harry's close friend, Dobby, was killed was Bellatrix. I cried when I was reading that part. I love the fact that Harry Potter are his last words.

I also couln't believe that Fred is dead. Poor George. Also, Remus and Tonks Lupin had died. Yes, they got married, secretly though. It was one of the cutest moments of the book.

The most horrible death is Snape's. I just wished that Voldemort Avada Kedavra'd him but instead, he let Nagini bite him and Snape bled to death. Maybe it was so, so that Severus can tell Harry his side and why he so loathed Harry. I found out that Snape could've been Harry's father. So that explains Lily's eyes. Snape had loved Lily and was so grieved that his master had killed her.

And of course, a happy ending. For Ron and Hermione fans, they finally hook up. Oh, yeah, they get married too. I just can't place where I have seen the names Rose and Hugo before, aside from the fact that they both start with R and H. And it was Harry and Ginny forever. This is the part I love. They have three children: James, Albus Severus, and Lily. Little Albus Severus is 11 and about to go to Hogwarts. He's afraid that he'll be sorted in Slytherin. Harry talks to him and says, "You were named after two great Headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was Slytherin and he was the bravest man I have ever known."

I won't delve how Harry had defeated Tom Riddle but it has something to do with the Deathly Hallows. And and Elder Wand.

Well, Harry's journey is finally over and his scar haven't hurt him in 19 years. But I don't think the readers will just stop there. There's still the movies though (and seeing more of Daniel Radcliffe ).

As for the copy I bought, I don't think I would sell it anymore. It's first edition. I might be able to give it to my future kids someday and tell them the story of Harry and how I journeyed with him for 8 years.

at least she's the one who won. oh, i'm sorry. i'm talking about PBB Season 2. i so HATE, HATE, HATE Wendy!!! fuck her!and she thinks she deserves to be the winner! hello! damnation! fuck her!

at least Bea won. she is the more deserving one because you saw how she worked out the personal tasks given to her. imagine sharpening 10,000 (yes 10,000) pencils in what? 2 hours or so. what the fuck!! even Quicksilver can't do that!

okay now the bashing, ranting, and venting.

fucking Wendy! she said that the fans of PBB hurt her family? she's the one who hurt her family by acting like a stuck up little girl inside the house! she's a fucking brat! she should just go back to Japan and fuck there! she belittles Gee Ann and Bodie saying that they aren't deserving because they're wealthy? huh? they entered the house because they wanted to prove something. and Bodie? i think just because his dad's a great actor they are wealthy. well, if his dad's named Dolphy probably. they can afford everything but i don't think they are super wealthy as Wendy imagined it to be. and Gee Ann? yes she can also have everything but she entered the house because she wanted to prove that she can do it. and Wendy? why the fuck did she enter? for the money or just to be an actress?

okay it all started when big borther did this little survey. bth Gee Ann and Bea said that they don't want Wendy to be with them in the Big 4. then Bea went to talk to Wendy. problem is Wendy pushed her away! this git shoved her friends away from her by doing that. Bea wanted to explain to her why she chose her to go out. Wendy's only companion is her boyfriend (huh? did he actually court her cos i never saw it) Bruce. and then she said that she wanted them to be sincere. they apologised then Wendy went out to go talk to somebody (forgot who but maybe her git) and then she said that she hasn't fully accepted their apology. where's the sincerity in that? fuck Wendy! and then she said Gee Ann and Bea will win best actress in a pretending role? oh, maybe it was her that she's pointing to! hahaha!! yeah! she'll win everything!

well if Gee Ann and Bea have a choice then they may not vote out Wendy. buit they don't. and of course, if you're in that house and you deem your best friend as your closest competition, then you would vote her out right? alliance or not? what Wendy lacked was understanding.

then when she went out (and winning third!) she said that people should just hurt her and not her family. in the place, she had already hurt her family. her mum was saying sorry in front of national TV! i believe that Wendy also hurts her mum like the way she hurt Gee Ann and Bea in her life. imagine how that would break a mother's heart! she should not say sorry to the people who hated her but instaed she should apologise to her family! and that deal or no deal thing on father's day? she said she didn't care because she doesn't have a father? so what? i don't have one, too, but i would try to win the biggest prize there is for my friends if i were her.

anyway, this is all finished now but me hating Wendy isn't. she's not fit for being an actress too. actors have discipline and should know how to conform. she doesn't sadly.

It's Time To Say Goodbye

I woke up pretty late today expecting to be greeted by our cupie companion. Lo and behold! Mum told me that baby Cupcake, Cuppy, is gone. I dunno exactly what happened but Cuppy died this morning. It just waited for Jen to come back home, to see her. I even fed Cuppy a midnight snack of lettuce and carrots. Poor sis! Mum said she's sad again.

Cuppy is this adorable little bunny that my sister got for Easter. It was a reward for her having the perfect attendance at work (which I believe don't have hahaha!!). Cuppy immediately became a dear to us. Jen even let it play on my bed for a while. And it certainly is a very intelligent rabbit. Cuppy easily learned how to escape from his box. But he was a very quiet bunny, only making noises when he's hungry or wet, like a baby does.

Two nights ago, he was so noisy my mum got angry at him. I dunno what got into him but he probably wants to play. We never took him out of the box so he wouldn't get dirty but he can very well escape from it. Yesterday morning, he escaped despite the "netting" I put on the box. The "netting" was actually just straw loosely placed like the bars of a cage, buliding a roof-like feature on Cuppy's box. But being an intelligent rabbit, Cuppy escaped from it. Of course, he fell. Jen said it might be the cause why Cuppy died. His head felt a bit soft. But when Cuppy escapes, he usually lands on his paws. Then, mum told me that it wanted to regurgitate something. I think, Cuppy died because of a furball. Who knows?

Cuppy is the second bunny ( :( ) who died. I had one when I was in my sophomore year but it was a very spoiled one. I don't even remember its name! Both bunnies stayed with us for a week.

Cuppy is in a box right now. I told mum to have the box cemented, like that in a cemetery, and be put in a corner just outside our house. She declined.

I dunno if my sissy happened to have lots of Cuppy's pictures but he certainly is cute, if you want to see him. Also, we're still busy taking care of those adorable kitties we adopted months ago, Tube adn Arwen. Now, I'm just wondering where I can get my sissy another rabbit to take care of.

Displaced/Demented

Thursday, April 05, 2007

i was thinking that if i made an album (oh yeah! i wish!), a good title will be displaced. for some reasons, i probably consider myself displaced.

first off, displaced continent. oh yeah. i always thought, since i'm born on St. Patrick's Day, i'm Irish. haha! and i know that Nonie will agree with me. okay. probably because i thought that i'm european in some ways, probably a past life.

second, displaced government. it goes with displaced continent. i always thought that the government in my world has princes and princesses, kings and queens.

third, i know, just know, mostly european languages! haha! i understand the British accent more than the American opne. no offense meant.

it's weird though. but really, that's how i am.

demented - crazy, insane, mad

another god title for an album. it goes with me, too! hahaha!! well, i'll be demented if:

1. for one day, i don't sleep. har har!
2. i don't see a picture of my favourite actors (erm, not really hahaha!)
3. in relation to number 2, for the sake of fandom, like my friend, i'll probably stalk them lol
4. if and when that happens, i won't be able to ask for their autograph because i'm really embarrassed,shy/bashful!

i am totally weird, demented! you know, i treasured my Dixie Chicks record when everybody's burning their CDs!

Hello But Not Goodbye

Saturday, March 31, 2007

i know i haven't, like, posted in nearly, erm, three months or so, except for that Joie article. sigh! i miss her so much. i miss talking to her. well, at least, she's our angel. :)

anyway, busy, busy, busy. my brain's been racked and whacked and gone haywire for the past few weeks. hahaha!! i want to destress nw by writing another poem for Joie. haha! i haven't even started to write the first word! also, i want to write about how some Filipinos, critics and prdinary people alike, look like idiots!

well, it's that just, they don't like films where they will keep you guessing until the end. many Filipinos like films that are formulaic, films that you really know what the ending is based on the plot of the film. sigh! idiocy! that's idiocy!! i like films where i don't really know what the outcome will be, films that will make me think! an example is Scoop (okay! i know that Hugh Jackman is in that movie but Woody Allen is really one brilliant director!). that movie kept me guessing who the fucking killer and then, i find out that it was...

okay i won't tell, but it did keep me in suspense. another one is Premonition. cheesy ending, really, i mean, i knew what the last scene will be like, but it kept me guessing how Jim had died and how the days seemed to go helter skelter.

sigh! i know i'm so, i dunno know, bad maybe or un-nationalistic but that's what i see. why don't they like to think? sigh! i like other genres of films, too (oh, yeah. i have like the three X-Men films, the third one in both VCD and DVD, the four Harry Potter films, Sandra Bullock films, Famke Janssen films, Hugh Jackman films, the list goes on), but i like those films where it would make me think.

The Angel Heaven Let Us Borrow

Thursday, February 08, 2007

[[this is the same article I wrote for Mimi. she has replied to me that it was a bit long, lol,for such a small magazine. i want to thank her for quoting the last part of it in the current issue of WITCH. thank you very much.]]

THE ANGEL HEAVEN LET US BORROW

"When the singer's gone, let the song go on
It's a fine line between the darkness and the dawn
They say in the darkest night there's a light beyond" – All I Know, Art Garfunkel

I had only known her for almost a year now and yet she has become a good friend, a best friend, to me. A close common friend introduced us through the Yahoo Instant Messenger early this year and we used the program as our communication device. It is the only way we can talk anyway since she lives on the other side of the world, in Paris, France. A six-hour time difference also separates us and yet we find time to “talk” to each other. And we haven’t even seen each other in person, only in photographs. Her name is Joelle Maxine Lindley.

Joie, as we call her, came to the Philippines a while back and stayed in the South for three years. She studied nursing in Ateneo de Davao. An acquaintance there told her of this forum, the W.I.T.C.H. Board. I have been quite inactive the time she became a member so we weren't formally introduced. But there's where our friendship nourished. We found out that we have several things in common, one being Harry Potter. Together, we've established a role-playing forum where I'm Headmistress and she's my Deputy. I also got her to sign-up as Rogue in an X-Men role-playing forum I'm a member of. We also laugh at little things and have fun with the smileys at Yahoo.

It was our close common friend who told me the real deal about Joie's health. She is in Paris because she has to rest. She has leukaemia. It was a little disturbing since I never had a close friend who had cancer. But I have to accept it. I know that she was taking chemotherapy treatments but in April, her body started rejecting it. In late June, she flew to Maryland to have bone marrow transplant (BMT). The operation happened on 7 July and it was successful. She came back to France the same week and was online in no time. She was still feeling sick but she found the time to post in W.I.T.C.H. (we are both Girl Scouts, moderators, by the way), in our Hogwarts forum, and of course, chat with us in Yahoo. We talked about how she feels at the moment and how she's still taking chemo once a week. You'll never know from her responses that she was feeling sick at the moment. Our Yahoo midnight conversations only stopped when I started work in August yet we still found ways to communicate: the private messages and the chat boxes. When I worked the graveyard shift, I catch her at W.I.T.C.H. even for a while. And since I have shallow tears, she was one of the W.I.T.C.H.ies who "comforted" me when I told them I cried and got depressed watching the scene where Adrian (played by Seth Gabel) killed himself in front of his mother, Ava Moore (played by Famke Janssen, a favourite of mine) in the Nip/Tuck Season 2 finale. And need I be reminded that she was also one of the W.I.T.C.H.ies who "comforted" me when I told them that I cried when Logan killed Jean Grey in X-Men The Last Stand and that it was the second time they killed Famke in an X-Men film!

Last month, her fiancé has to take the laptop she's using on a business cruise so we missed Joie. She still posts but not as often as she used to. When I checked my introduction thread, a post from her said that my Hugh Jackman obsession has gone to the extreme (oh yes. I love him and I'm waiting for him to get divorced so that we can get married. Ha ha!). She meant it as a joke. And then I got sick and hadn't been online for a week.

I felt a little better on Saturday, 11 November, so I was able to open my email. I found a letter from her. I thought she just wanted to ask me about something but what was written in it shattered my heart. It said that she had begun to feel weak again and that she had to stay in the hospital for the rest of her life. She left it to my discretion whether or not, and how, to tell the W.I.T.C.H.ies that she had to leave all the forums she's a member of. Here I am, ill myself, and then I receive this news. It took a lot of courage to tell the kids at W.I.T.C.H., who love her so much, the reason she had to leave. I don't know if I was going to cry or not but it was a burden for me, that it was me whom she trusted with this. We sent her messages and her friend printed out and read the messages to her.

Joie travelled to her new home on 14 November 2006, 7 in the evening in France. I was at work when I learned from another friend the post that Joie's friend wrote in her blog. I couldn't help but cry but our linking friend said that, as Joie's last wish, the forum continue to be happy, that it's as if she just took a very long vacation and she would be coming back. It only totally sunk in when I saw the teaser poster for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I realised that she will never see the film and that she will never be able to read the series' conclusion.

Everything is a borrowed heaven, as was stated in that Corrs song. We will truly miss Joie's presence so much. Her nyahas and teehees will be greatly missed as well as her bold, hot pink-coloured posts, her ability to make us laugh, her role in our role-playing family as Lola Dionisia, her charm, and probably her dislike for the purple coloured dinosaur. I will certainly miss her telling me about my obsession with a certain Mr Jackman. But as the Art Garfunkel song, used in that fateful Nip/Tuck finale, "But the endings always comes at last, endings always come too fast. They come too fast but the past too slow," the finale will always come.

And for Joie, wherever you are now, we thank Heaven for letting us borrow you even for a short while. Your wish is our command so there will be time enough for tears. This is not goodbye and for every summer sunshine and silver strand we'll encounter, we will remember you. You are our angel.

NOTE: Joie is half-British, half-French and the only Filipino words she knew were lola, bantot, ate, and pasaway.

The Dreadful Day

Thursday, November 16, 2006

The time has come. I just learned from Neym, through Andie, that dearest Joelle Maxine Arden Lindley had passed away. I am still waiting for confirmation but it had come from Andie herself. We we just talking about Hugh Jackman last night and then...

I don't know what to do. I cried and my heart broke into a million pieces. I am now just realising that I will never talk to her again. I will never see her posts. I will never hear her nyahas and teehees. I also realised that she will not see the new Harry Potter film and the last book. We will never conquer the chat zones again. Most of all, I will never see her bold, hot pink font again.

Credits to Neym for the picture.
